How Did It Begin?

The Libra Foundation emerged from the King Edward VI School (KES) Romania Project that Libra Schools’ Trustee Tim Tofts initiated in 1999. It originally started at the Placement Centre No. 3 (now the Alexandra Centre) in Onesti, under its Director Corina Murariu-Botez.  Virginia Darley joined the team in 2001 to assist with her child development skills.

In 2007 The Libra Foundation was formed as a company limited by guarantee and registered as a charity and Libra’s work was made available to other schools. In 2008 Libra started work on projects with Rroma children in Comanesti and Sacele and 2009 saw the start of another project based in Bacau, as well as the development of additional projects in Comanesti and Sacele.
