How Does Your Money Help?

The Summer Visit

We aim to provide art, craft, music and sport equipment for the children to use and benefit from during our visits in July. We have it transported to the projects in time for our arrival. We use the equipment in our activities and to train the staff, carers and Romanian volunteers. We endeavour to leave enough supplies for the organisations to make use of in our absence and to ensure that our work continues throughout the year.

Alexandra Centre

In Onesti, our primary aim is to ensure that we have sufficient funds to provide a camping experience for the more able children.  Our students perform an invaluable service to the centre as many of the staff and carers are able to take their holiday at this time.

We work closely with our Romanian partners to support them in ways that are relevant to them. We buy books for education purposes and we buy equipment to help develop areas of learning and play.

Therapy

In 2002 an appeal was launched to raise funds for physiotherapy support through the Inclusion Association, an NGO set up by Corina Murariu-Botez, the Director of the Alexandra Centre, to provide a structure for fundraising activities. Through the generosity of those who responded, two physiotherapists were employed at the Alexandra Centre and we understand that the children received a higher level of physiotherapy care than was available at many other residential centres in the country. This was vital to the children’s wellbeing but sadly we have been unable to sustain the support. We are very keen to preserve this service as a key fundraising objective and would be delighted to hear from anyone who could help us in this area.
