Fundatia pentru Asistenta Sociala si Tineret, 'FAST' (The Foundation for Social Assistance and Youth):

The FAST Charity was created to support underprivileged children and their families, in the county of Brasov, by supporting their education and living conditions. Learning support and a strong music project is provided for Rroma children in the Ziurel Day Centre. FAST also run educational outreach projects for children in the Rroma communities. Their president, Daniel Hristea has created the Better Homes Project which assists selected Rroma families to build their own homes with materials and advice provided by FAST. One recent success of this project was the provision of running water to the village of Zizin. Daniel Hristea is determined to improve the aspirations of the Rroma through education and by example. He also manages one of the few NGOs devoted to facilitating the self-improvement of Rroma from the 'grass roots'.

Fundatia De Sprijin Comunitar, 'FSC' (Community Support Foundation):

FSC is based in Bacau in the north east of Romania and is devoted to the development of the rural and urban poor. FSC's particular focus is the region to the east of the Seret river, which is isolated and home to mainly subsistence farming communities, most of whom live below the poverty line. FSC provides basic welfare for these communities and particularly promotes education, specifically aiming to reduce school truancy and drop out, through summer camps and its 'Sticky Clubs'. FSC manages a range of health and welfare services for women and the elderly.

Inclusion Association, Onesti:

Inclusion Association is a charity set up to support the work of The Alexandra Centre in Onesti. It is particularly concerned with providing day care for children with special needs in the town and outlying villages.

 

Biggin Hill Romania Group, 'BHRG':

BHRG is a UK based charity working in the Comanesti area of the county of Bacau. The group is concerned with supporting and improving the lives of children with special needs through its Robert Cole Centre and Foundations for Life Centres. Work is specifically aimed at developing life and vocational skills so that youngsters are able to integrate and contribute to Romanian society. There are now plans to build a Community/Health centre in the very poor Zavoi district of Comanesti where the elderly are particularly poorly provided for. The charity is well served in Romania by Adrian Woodroffe who has also done much to facilitate the work of Libra as a support agency.

Relief Fund For Romania, 'RFR':

RFR was one of the first NGO's to work in Romania following the collapse of Communism in 1990. Its founder, the distinguished philanthropist Ion Ratiu, was also a co-founder of Amnesty International. RFR is run by Romanians and seeks to publicise the humanitarian needs of Romania and conduct long-term community-based and national projects to support orphans, institutionalised children and adults, particularly the elderly. RFR has charity shops in the UK that, together with donations, support a formidable array of projects all of which seek to sensitively work with Romanian aspirations and needs.

Romania Information at Cleaford, 'RIAC':

RIAC is an information service devoted to the dissemination of any resources of over 200 NGO's working in Romania. RIAC is overseen by The Cleaford Christian Trust, a charity devoted to Evangelism and community work in central Romania.
